Are there any courses/universities that you would recommend?

These days there is such a variety of courses available that it would be difficult to recommend a specific one as a path to securing a position within the industry. Previously we have taken on applicants who have been self-taught, come straight out of school or have gained experience from previous employment (though previous experience is not a necessity).
What should I include in my showreel?

Showreels need not be lengthy but should include as much variety as possible. You should only include your very best work as we would rather see one good piece of work than ten average pieces. There is no point in padding out a showreel with work that you are not happy with - if we want to see more examples of your work, we will let you know. Please send standard CD/Video showreels (JPEG/QuickTime/AVI formats).

If you think you are a strong character modeller, then we need to see your characters on your showreel. If you want to work on environments, let us see your best background shots. Concept artists, show us designs and sketches which will demonstrate your style. For animation showreels we like to see as large a variety of animations as possible, from a simple run cycle to a series of lip syncs. Show us how you can bring a character to life.
Other points to consider are:

Pictures/Stills
Please make sure your still artwork is in a standard format and can be easily loaded into Adobe Photoshop.

Movies
Make sure your video file compression is a standard codec; try it on a PC other than your own to ensure the compression you are using is readily available. If it is necessary to use a custom video compression, then please include the appropriate codec along with your video file.

If work included on your showreel is project work, then please make it clear which parts you are responsible for. Try to keep showreels at a minimum resolution of 320x240 and ensure that the work is clear when viewed on other monitors.
