What is it like to work at Rare?
The people:
The people here are great with the whole game development taking place in a team-driven, relaxed atmosphere. You work in amongst the designers and artists with you all driving towards the same goal. All the people here have the same passion for gaming and so pushing our product forward is simple as all around you are looking for the same end result: a great game. There are a lot of employees who joined the company straight from university and so Rare has a very young and fresh feel to itself.
The environment:
As my friend likes to put it, "you work in a big barn in the middle of a big field" and, to be fair, she isn’t far off the truth. Just outside of Twycross (yes, the place with the zoo), Rare is based in a fantastic set of grounds that incorporate numerous acres of greenbelt which possesses much wildlife including pheasants, foxes and fowl, all of which provides a great view out of the office window. If nature is not your thing then there is also an outside 5-a-side football pitch, basketball hoop and golfing nets. Further still, if sport is not your niche, there are meeting rooms for gaming and a foosball table resides in the canteen. |
