STAFF PROFILE: DAVID, INTERN (cont.)
What is it like to work at Rare?
I think the thing that really makes working at Rare great, is the place and the people… the buildings are modern, the offices are airy and spacious, and I can look out of my window to see all sorts of wildlife scattered around the very green grounds.
There is a football pitch, a table tennis table, a pool table and basketball court (where you’ll find me most lunchtimes). Anyone is welcome to join in whatever’s going on; there is a very inclusive attitude to all things recreational at the company. For the non-sport inclined, there’s table football in the canteen and more video games dotted around the place than you can shake a very big stick at (including a new classic Space Invaders-esque video game table in the canteen).
On the work side of things, people are very helpful, and incredibly enthusiastic about everything they're working on, so if there’s anything you need to know, there’s always someone more than eager to point you in the right direction, and you’ll probably get a load more information than you even considered asking for.
Overall, Rare is a great company to work for, and I have found it a highly enjoyable experience, I would recommend it to anyone looking to get the most out of their placement year experience, and just to anyone looking to work in a relaxed, creative environment to make videogames. |
