STAFF PROFILE: URBAN, STG PROGRAMMER
What do you do day to day?
The work revolves around fixing bugs, day in and day out. Some bugs are just like "this is not working, make it work" and can be resolved with a fix, others are more of the kind "this is what we want, can you give us this feature?" which often need some more research. The smaller bugs pile up, meanwhile bigger features are implemented, so in between every feature there is some time taken to clear out bugs that have piled up.
What is it like to work at Rare?
The people:
Everybody on the STG team has a great passion for games technology and games in general, the great thing about the people is that you can always expect dedication and that they will do their best to solve any problems at hand. Everybody really enjoys what they do, and you can tell by the way the everyday work is done.
The environment:
Set beautifully in the English countryside it's easy on the eye, the half-an-hour car ride from Birmingham and a few other cities allowing for city living with countryside working. The complex has everything needed for game development, a canteen, lovely gardens with all sorts of crazy birds (and not so crazy too) and of course the gaming lounge for the occasional 8-player Micro Machines mayhem. |
