HEAD OF SOFTWARE FOR RARE LTD. (cont.)
Required Skills and Experience:
A degree in a technical subject.
Must have significant experience of managing software engineers, e.g. managing a software team of reasonable size over a complete project lifecycle.
Must have experience of managing software engineers with direct reports of their own.
Must be approachable and able to communicate and work with everyone across the studio, including designers, artists, producers and musicians, not just technical staff.
Exceptional problem-solving ability combined with a creative ethos.
Strong leadership and motivation skills.
Good mediation and conflict resolution skills.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to multi-task.
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience of managing multiple teams.
Be able to interact with, report-to and influence senior IEB, MGS and Rare management.
Be confident in their ability to represent the company in any situation and to any audience, be they students, press, industry peers or senior Microsoft management.
Have an in-depth knowledge of the development of video games and/or architecting and engineering large-scale software systems.
Have a practical nature that understands the balance between features and deadlines.
Constantly seek to improve the development process.
Work with closely with all teams to facilitate their needs.
Have proven experience of creating and driving long-term technical strategy.
